Changing Outlook Express settings from IMAP to POP3 (Black Hills Only)


Step 1

Once Outlook Express is running, click on “Tools”, then “Accounts”.

Then click on the “Mail” tab and then left click 1 time on the account name to highlight the name. Then click on “Remove” to the right and finally on “Yes” on the window asking if you want to delete the account.

Step 3

While on the “Mail” tab at the top of the window, click on “Add” and then “Mail”.

Step 4

Now put your name into the “Display name” field. This name will appear in the “From:” field on all of the email you send. When finished, click next.

Step 5

Type your full E-mail address into the “E-mail address:” field. This should be all lowercase. When finished, click the “Next” button.

Step 6

“POP3” will already be selected for your incoming mail server type. In the “Incoming mail server” field type “pop3.rushmore.com.” For the “Outgoing mail server” field type “smtp.rushmore.com.” When finished, click on the “Next” button.

Step 7

In the “Account name:” field, make sure the first part of your email address is listed correctly (should be all lowercase). Now in the “Password:” field, type your password. If you would prefer not to type in your password each time you check your mail, check the “Remember Password” box. Then click “Next” when done.

Step 8

Click Finish! We’re almost done!

Step 9

Next, click on “pop3.rushmore.com” so that it is highlighted blue. Now click “Properties”.

Now click on the “Servers” tab and choose the “My server requires authentication” option.
Then click on the “General” tab.

Under the General Tab, you will find the first field will be “pop3.rushmore.com”. Change this to your email address. Leave the rest of this page alone, and click on the “OK” button.

Step 12

Now, click the “Close” button on the “Internet Accounts” window.

Your email account is now set up and ready to use. Click on the “Inbox” on the left side of the screen to read your emails when they come in.
