| Q: | When I try to dial into the Internet, my computer says I have no dial tone. What does this mean? |
| A: | The computer does not detect the dial tone on your phone line. Check the following to restore dial tone: · If you have only one phone line, make sure that the other phones in the house are not off the hook or in use. · If you have a second line or no one is using the current line, be sure that the phone cable is securely plugged into both the computer and the wall jack. · If you still do not get a dial tone, plug a phone directly into the wall jack that the computer is plugged into and see if you can hear a dial tone. · If no dial tone is heard, contact your local phone company and inform them of your problem. · If you hear a dial tone but your computer still says there is no dial tone, you may need to contact your computer manufacturer, modem manufacturer, or the company from which you purchased your computer. · Call PrairieWave Technical Support at 721-2000 if you still need assistance. | |
